Kimberly Lenzi, Ph.D.

Kimberly Lenzi, Ph.D.

Senior Instructor

Kim has dedicated her life to health, wellness, and movement education. She began studying dance and yoga as a child and continued her training throughout her youth. Kim began teaching yoga while completing her undergraduate studies and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from West Virginia University. She continued her education by earning Master’s degrees in both Psychology and Gerontology before completing her Ph.D. in Psychology at University of Nevada, Reno in 2008.

Her doctoral dissertation explored the effects of Pilates training on older adults, focusing on healthy lifestyle behaviors, improvements in balance and posture, and enhancements in cognitive functioning.

While pursuing her advanced degrees, Kim trained and studied under Kathryn Ross-Nash and several other renowned second-generation Pilates instructors, including Jay Davis, Brooke Siler, and Moses Urbano, along with Jay Grimes, who studied directly under Joseph Pilates. Through this distinguished lineage, Kim developed a deep respect for the authentic classical Pilates method and its preservation. Her teaching repertoire extends beyond rehabilitation to include performance enhancement, lifelong physical discipline, strength development, and proper movement mechanics. She has been teaching Pilates since 2005.

In 2008, Kim received her certification through the Pilates Method Alliance and opened Mind Body & Pilates, an authentic classical Pilates studio in Reno, Nevada. In March 2022, she graduated from Kathryn Ross-Nash’s Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training Program, The Red Thread, further deepening her commitment to authentic classical Pilates education and mentorship.

In January 2026, Kim and two fellow international graduates of Kathryn Ross-Nash’s Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training Program launched The Pilates Professional Teacher Training, a comprehensive 18-month classical Pilates education program dedicated to preserving and teaching the classical Pilates method to future generations of instructors.

At Mind Body & Pilates, Kim specializes in older adults, injury rehabilitation, performance enhancement, lifelong physical discipline, strength development, and proper movement mechanics, emphasizing individualized instruction and authentic classical Pilates. As a certified teacher trainer, she is deeply committed to educating and mentoring future generations of classical Pilates teachers while helping preserve the integrity, lineage, and future of the classical Pilates method.

Thea Newhouse

Théa Newhouse

Senior Instructor

Théa Newhouse started practicing Pilates in 2008 in an Authentic Studio in her home state of Michigan. Diagnosed with severe asthma as a child, she craved movement but was unable to run or to do nearly any exercise without struggling to breathe. Théa read that Pilates was a good form of exercise for asthma patients and decided to check it out – at the end of her first lesson, she thought “I could actually be good at this!”. Not only did Théa’s asthma improve, but so did her posture, her back pain, and her flexibility.

After Théa’s move to Reno, she began taking lessons with Kimberly Lenzi and realized that not only did she want to practice Pilates, she wanted to teach others. Théa apprenticed under Kim, earning her first certification with the Pilates Method Alliance in May 2011. In the years following, Théa has continued to build her knowledge, attending many workshops and conferences with world renowned instructors. In 2019, she completed Dana Santi’s Advanced Teacher Training program in Chicago. In 2024, Théa graduated from Kathryn Ross-Nash’s Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training in Bradenton, FL. Théa finds the Pilates method as fascinating as its results and strives to teach her clients movement that can help them to live their best lives.
